Bible Question:
How do I hear the Lord speak to me? What do I need to do to hear Him? |
Bible Answer: Hello snoopy3, Generally, God speaks to us through His Word. He has given us His written word for our hearing and understanding ( 2 Tim. 3:16). By studying and meditating on the Word, we become transformed (Rom. 12:1-2). By prayer, we allow God to change us by seeking His will and direction (Prov. 3:5-6). Consider these 2 verses: Rom 10:17- "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ." The hearing of the Word of God brings us into relying upon God by faith. We begin to trust Him more. Faith says I take God at His word! Heb 4:12- "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." God's Word is living and able to judge out thoughts and intentions. The word for judge- Gr. kritikos- means to discern or be "skilled in judging! I heard Dr. Jerry Benjamin say this- and I completely agree with him- that the "mature Christian" is one who is controlled by the Word of God! Amen? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
