Subject: Is God Sovereign in the Church today? |
Bible Note: Dear Brother Mark, You asked, “Do we have to say that we have ‘redifined God's sovereignity’ when we recognize that God has given man a choice?” (sic) It depends. If we are discussing Pink’s comments on this redefinition then the answer would be yes. Did you go back and read the entire chapter? You wrote, “…whether someone chooses to hold an idea…[or not] is not always so readily apparent.” This has to do with our relative abilities in analyzing a preacher’s teaching and/or how overt/covert a preacher is about his doctrine. Those things are open for consideration in any given instance. The specific statement I was addressing was your remark in post #16852, “[Pink] …speaks of what is in the minds of other's. I really don't know what others are thinking.” The implication being that one cannot deduce the thoughts of another. I could give you a dozen names of preachers. Knowing you as I do, you would be able to readily give me a general idea of their doctrine, and even their character. :-) The Scripture is full of instruction on how to detect a false teacher. A deceiver will deceive. Over time, everyone manifests what they really are. “Ye shall know them by their fruit.” In Him, Doc |
