Subject: Is God Sovereign in the Church today? |
Bible Note: Dear Doc, Do we have to say that we have "redifined God's sovereignity" when we recognize that God has given man a choice? Gen 2 16 The LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die." Luke 13:34 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it! 2 Cor 5:20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. Rev 3:20 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. Truly a person reveals themself in their speech and behavior. However, whether someone chooses to hold an idea that God is, say, tolerant of sin because they are afraid of judgment and are in denial or because they do not recognize what sin is, in not always so readily apparent. At least not to me! :-) 2 Pet 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. Not to mention that a person may simply be a deceiver. God save us from such things! Love in Christ, Mark |
