Bible Question: Could Saul who later became Paul also witnessed or known of the death of Jesus as he witnessed the death of Stephen stated in Acts8:1 |
Bible Answer: Greetings Joseph-Clyde, No, based on Scripture, Saul (later became Paul) did not witness the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. However, Jesus did appear to him in Acts 9:5. But if Saul knew about the death of Jesus through word of mouth or otherwise before Acts 9:5, it is not so stated in Scripture. Saul's conversion caused one of the greatest persecutors of the church to become one of its greatest apostles! The conversion of Saul into Paul leads me to believe that if he knew the facts before Acts 9:5, it didn't hit his heart until Acts 9:5, when he was literally knocked off his high horse and forced to deal with Jesus in a whole new, personal way. :) Blessings to you, Makarios |
