Bible Note: Acts 2:4 is talking about the Baptism in the Holy Spirit: "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Peter then spoke with boldness, being filled with the Holy Spirit. And he spoke the words of the Prophet Joel: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit, and they shall prophesy." "Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Being baptized is the outward showing to the world who is our Lord and Saviour. We die with Jesus (going down into the water), and are raised up again with Him (when we rise from the water) in the newness of life. But, being baptized in water is NOT A REQUIREMENT FOR SALVATION. It is a profession of one's faith. When we are saved, WE WANT TO BE BAPTIZED, but it is not a requirement for salvation. Acts 16:31 says: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." It does not say, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be baptized and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
