Bible Question: The book of Acts is written by Luke, I am told. I was intrigued by verse 7:55. Since Stephen who saw the glory of God and Jesus died just after this, how could Luke got this passage recorded. Did he see this through Stephen's vision? |
Bible Answer: iktoose, I presume you meant to say Stephen, not Jesus, died just after Stephen saw Jesus in Glory. How luke came to know this is that Paul (Saul) was presented and witnessed and "approved" the stoning of Stephen. Luke later became one of Paul's companions in his missionary journeys. Acts 8:1 Saul was in hearty agreement with putting him to death. And on that day a great persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. Acts 8:2 Some devout men buried Stephen, and made loud lamentation over him. Acts 8:3 But Saul began ravaging the church, entering house after house, and dragging off men and women, he would put them in prison. Emmaus |
