Bible Question: Paul says he is a Roman citizen, but in Romans he states he's never been to Rome. How can he be a citizen then? |
Bible Answer: Paul claimed he was born a Roman citzen in Acts 22:28 and since he had never been to Rome the only way would have be that he was born of a Roman father or mother. Since he was trained as a Jew probably his mother was also a Jew. It was the custom of the time that the mother usually determined the religious training of the children. However that does not preclude the fact that his father may also have been a Jew but has achieved Roman citzenship in some way. EdB |
