Bible Question:
Who has the right to baptize someone who has believed in Jesus as their Saviour when they ask to be baptized by the one who has worked toward making them a disciple? Matthew 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Bible Answer: God's day to you, CDBJ, On the first Pentecost, it would have been tough for the 12 to baptize 3000. The Bible doesn't say if it was just them or the 120 (Act 1:15). Nonetheless, some churches say only the ministers may baptize, others expand it to other church leaders. Some say any believer. I believe any Christian can baptize. A dying man was saved. He was unable to get out of his men. A Christian visted him and led him to the Lord. (tears as I type) This man wanted to be baptized. So the Christian got some water and a cloth to smybolized the washing away of the sins. (tears) Yes, there were tears then, too, including his family, who were believers. Some immersion only folks would reject that he was baptized. Searcher |
