Subject: Trinity and Confusion |
Bible Note: Savannah, hello and warm greetings and welcome. On this thread about the Trinity and confusion, you have left me confused by a couple of statements you have made: (1) You say you grew up Catholic and (therefore) know all about the Trinity. We have a couple of fine regular contributors to this forum, Brian and Emmaus, who happen to be Catholic and I don't recall either of them ever saying that he knew ALL about the Trinity or, for that matter, ALL about any other topic that has come before this forum. Is your statement altogether accurate? Do you know all about the Trinity? (2) The second area that causes my confusion is that in the same post you assert that, knowing all about it, you don't believe in the Trinity. If one may take that to mean that you don't believe there is any such entity as the Trinity, how could you not BELIEVE in something that you already KNOW all about? Let me illustrate: If one already knows that he doesn't have three hands, it is moot to discuss belief, one way or another, because it requires no faith, no belief, to conclude in the face of absolute knowledge, that he has two hands, not three. If he knows he has only two hands, and yet says, "I don't believe that I have three hands," he sounds absurd. Am I being clear? To reiterate: How can you claim to KNOW all about the Trinity and in the next breath assert, "I don't BELIEVE in the Trinity? --Hank |
