AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Bible Question: I want to get Baptized, but I don't know where to do it. I go to my boyfriends church (methodist) and have established friends there. But I have a cousin who is a minister for a non-denominational church. Would it be better to go to my boyfriends church in the hope that we would be married someday, or do I play it safe and go to my cousins church? Or does it even matter where I go? |
Bible Answer: The sacrament of Baptism is after you have acknowledged you are a sinner and accepted Christ as your Lord and Master. The baptism is an outward testimony that you are following Christ.... as in his birth, death and resurrection, the form of baptism is immersion. Acts 2:38 is misleading as baptism will not get you to heaven, other verses Acts 22:16,Rom.6:3-11, Mk 16:16... a final example of heaven bound through Grace and not baptism is found in Lk.23:39-43...if baptism was the way into heaven, how did this thief get in ...only by the grace and shedding of Christs blood on the cross and the thief realizing that Jesus was the Son of God. As to a church find a church that preaches the Word of God and that will immerse you -- May God bless you in your search...ask Him to lead you to the church He has for you. |
