Bible Question: Does anyone have a short "outline" of the differences, if any, of the different protestant groups? Someone asked me what other protestant beliefs are and I really couldn't answer why I was in a particular protestant church. I only know what my church believes. I thought all protestants believed the same thing and it was just different from catholics. Does anyone have a brief overview of any main differences with the different protestant churchs? |
Bible Answer: Hi, this is a question that a lot of people ask. And many people wonder why there are so many different types of denominations when the BIble says there is only one God, one baptism, one faith, and we all know that there is only one Bible. If you follow the history of the Reformation you can see where each denomination came from. We can start with the Waldenses who found the truth of following the Bible alone, Then HUss and Jerome who found the truth of obedience, the the one most people think of as the first one Martin Luther broke away from the Catholic church, and his new found truth was righteousness by faith and grace, then Calvin found the truth about Spiritual growth, then the Anabaptists- truth about baptism, Wesley - Holiness, and from those people and on down the line we have the other denominations. One thing that i have had to ask myself is to make sure that all my beliefes i can find and support from the Bible. So that when other people come and ask us, we can show them why we believe what we believe. There is a very interesting book that has changed many people's lives called "The Great Controversy" and it goes through the history of the early church from the reformation down the time line to our days today. If you look at each denominatio you will find different beliefs, but we have to always remember that the founders of the denominations were based on the Bible alone. |
