Bible Question (short): How were Paul and Silas singled out? |
Question (full): When Paul and Silas were traveling through Macedonia in Phillipi, after rebuking the evil spirit in the demon possesed girl, in Acts 16:20 they are brought before the city councile and charged specifically as being "Jews" who were causing trouble basically. My question is: How were Paul and Silas singled out as Jews? There was no synagogue in this roman colony, would there have been telltale signs of them being jewish?
