Subject: Is salvation, forever, can it be lost? |
Bible Note: Well let's see here, then you dismiss everything Hebrews says in Chapter 6 as being people who weren't really saved, correct? What about hebrews chapter 2? Let's see, he's speaking to a church, he must not be speaking to people who know about salvation, or that have professed it... What does Jesus mean when he speaks of being the vine in John 15? For we know if we are "in jesus" then we are saved, correct? Whom does this judgement refer to then? Those who are a part of the vine of Jesus but are adulturers and thieves and liars and never truly been saved? It refers to Christians who aren't doing the will of God, doesn't it? In order for God's truth to be God's truth the whole Bible has to work doesn't it? Do we get off easy simply because we look back to Christ's sacrifice, while the people of the old testament had it hard because they only looked forward to Christ's sacrifice? This is the very thrust of Hebrews! God's message then was binding, God's message now is binding. Christ says he didn't come to abolish the law but to fulfill it! No more sacrifices have to be made to atone for sin because Jesus was the whole point of what those sacrifices represented! However, God's character still remains in that Jesus commanded us to love one another! Guess what...you can't love someone and commit adultry with them, or lie or steal from them! These are the best ways I know how to explain it. When you read the Bible, I believe your physical body should tremble with fear, for it is sinful! Paul says to examine yourselves with fear and trembling... Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. You have to ask yourself, if you're once saved always saved, why does the Bible constantly warn you not to sin? For Paul says this: 24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. When I sit down and read the Bible, this is the message I see portrayed. I post to this board in essence to test what I believe has been given me of God. If you should prove me wrong, that I have wrongfully interpreted, then so be it, I will change my thought to match that of God! Likewise, I would expect only the same from any of you! --Your brother in Christ |
