Bible Question: CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF ITS IN THE BIBLE THAT A PERSON HAS 2 GO 2 CHURCH 2 BE SAVE OR IF THAY DONT GO 2 CHURCH OR CANT MAKE IT ALL THE TIME ARE THAY GOING 2 HELL AND THAY DONT HAVE THE LORD IN THERE LIFE.I WAS TOLD THIS @ 1 TIME.THAT IF U'R NOT AT CHURCH THERE'S NO WAY ANYONE CAN BE SAVE IS THIS TRUE |
Bible Answer: Nowhere in the Bible does it say that church attendance is required to receive salvation -- indeed, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9 NIV). However, when you become a Christian, you not only enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ, but you also become a part of his Church, which includes all fellow believers. Going to church (as in the building) allows you to meet with others, and, "as iron sharpens iron" (Proverbs 27:17a NIV), so meeting with others allows you to grow in your faith in ways that private reflection just doesn't allow. I think it would be safe to say that salvation is by faith alone, but growth is a product of many things, including a Christian community. |
