NASB | Acts 16:3 Paul wanted this man to go with him; and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 16:3 Paul wanted Timothy to go with him [as a missionary]; and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, since they all knew that his father was a Greek. |
Bible Question (short): Why circumcise Timothy in Acts 16? |
Question (full): Why did Paul circumsize Timothy? Acts 15 dealt with the issue of Gentiles not being required to follow this Jewish tradition, and then, in the very next chapter, Paul circumcizes Timothy who was half Jew and half Greek. I don't understand this. |
