Bible Question (short): How did the Jews identify the Uncircumci |
Question (full): With no intention to be vulgar, a guy in my sundayschool class (members aged 18-21) asked how on earth anyone had any idea whether someone was circumcised or not? He even went so far as to say he had no idea the "status" of the seven other guys in the class, and they in turn said that they had no idea either (except the two twins, who blushed a bit!) They are a great bunch, and certainly weren't being rude, and understood the importance of circumcision to the jews, but we couldn't come up with a reasonable answer as to how anyone would really know anyway! One even suggested magbe that you had to "check in" at the entrance to the synagog, or maybe roman baths had a lot to do with it? Can anyone provide any dignified answer to this? |
