Bible Question:
Does this not infer that Jesus was a Prophet (Messenger of God) and not God himself? Thanks, Isa |
Bible Answer: Isa, He was both. JVH0212, Nolan and Ray have great insight. Let us look at the context of this and the progression of this man's thinking of Christ: v 11-He is a (mere) man. v 17-He is a prophet. A very high designation. v 27-He is one with disciples. v 33-He is from God. v 38-He is God, since He was worshipped. Only God was worshipped by the Jews (Due 6:13). Christ was the Prophet promised (Deu 18:15,18). He was, still is and always will be God. All the prophets before Him are inferior to Him (Heb 1:1-4) ... they pointed toward Him. Steve |
