Bible Question: What is Nazareth known for? This is regards to John 1:46 when Nathanael said "Can anything good come from there?" |
Bible Answer: Hi Romans, Welcome to the forum. I agree with Robert here and would also say that the answer to your question is not concerned with Nazareth itself. Let me talk to you about "the holy thing begotten" which is the literal translation of Luke 1:35. In an earlier copyright the NASB rendering was "and for this reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God." So this holy, good thing that came out of Nazareth was the Son of God. Look at the places in the gospels where Jesus is called "good". John 1:46 talks to my mind about the Son of Joseph. Mark 10:17 talks about the good Teacher and Jesus asks why they call Him good. Only God (who is Spirit) is good. Luke 18:18 talks about the good Teacher and Jesus says to follow Me. Mark 10:20 talks about the Teacher and they were amazed at His words. Mark 10:25 talks about entering the kingdom of God and the disciples followed Him. Matthew 19:17 says that only *One is good. Revelation 15:4, "Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For *Thou alone art holy; For ALL THE NATIONS WILL COME AND WORSHIP BEFORE THEE/, For Thy righteous acts have been revealed." Psalm 22:3, "Yet *Thou art holy, O Thou/ who art enthroned upon the praises of Israel." Come and see this Holy One of Israel. Even this holy thing begotten. From the heart, Ray |
