Bible Question (short): man or Man? spirit or Spirit? |
Question (full): I had asked, "How are you relating John 7:38 with the letter of 1 John?" I did not get a response so I began this morning to answer the question for myself. I believe that we have to distinguish between the "Spirit" and the "spirit". We are to test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because there are many false prophets out there in the world. 1 John 4:1 Here is one example of how I relate the John 7 passage with 1 John. 1 John 4:1, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." John 7:46, NASB, "The officers answered, "Never did a man speak the way this man speaks." I encourage you to test the spirits here. In this case would you not agree with the NKJ for this verse? John 7:46, NKJ, "The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this Man!" From the heart, Ray |
