Subject: How to overcome spiritual dryness |
Bible Note: Hi Mommapbs, I am revisiting John 7:38. I've had discussions in the past about whether the pronoun "his" should be capitalized or not. From what you have said about drawing water from our own cistern and suggesting going to the Source; I would think that you would be open to capitalizing the pronoun. What do you think of these comparisons? They will have my own interpretations of capitalization and parentheses and stars for comparisons. John 7:37, "Now on the last day, the gread day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in (Me), as the Scripture said, 'From His innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.'" v38, "But this He spoke of the **Spirit,..." Jeremiah 2:11, "Has a nation changed gods, When they were not gods? But (My) people have changed their glory For that which does not profit. "Be appalled, O heavens, at this, And shudder, be very desolate," declares the Lord. "For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken **Me, The fountain of living waters, To hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns, That can hold no water." Jeremiah 17:12, "A glorious throne on high from the beginning Is the place of our sanctuary. O Lord, the (Hope) of Israel, All who forsake Thee will be put to shame. Those who turn away from Me on earth will be written down, Because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the **Lord. Jeremiah 14:7, "Although our iniquities testify against us, O Lord, act for Thy name's sake! Truly our apostasies have been many, we have sinned against (Thee). Thou Hope of Israel, Its **Savior in time of distress, Why art Thou like a stranger in the land Or like a traveler who has pitched his tent for the night? Why art Thou like a man dismayed, Like a mighty man who cannot save? Yet Thou/ art in our midst, O Lord, And we are called by Thy name; Do not forsake us!" John 4:23, "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in Spirit/ and truth; for such people the Father also seeks to be His worshipers. (God) is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship **Him in Spirit and truth." From the heart, Ray |
