Bible Note: You wrote: "The religious mind likes to think that all of God's creation is about God and that we are here just to serve Him and for His pleasure - and there is an element of truth in this, but we need to look deeper. Why did God want dear children, why did He, who was complete in Himself, want a family? Because Love, by His very nature, has an innate desire to reproduce, to expand, to fulfill, to provide, to be expressed." If you have never read the book _Desiring God_ by John Piper, I highly recommend it, because it addresses a lot of things you bring up in this post. Piper's basic point is that "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him." It is a hard read because it challenges a lot of what we have been raised to think about God, but it is a very persuasive book. You can order it from just about any Christian bookstore or on the usual Internet spots. --Joe! |
