Bible Question:
I am not posing this question to cause conflict with fellow Christians relative their views on the Holy Spirit. In talking to Nicodemus, Jesus made it abundantly clear "Except a man/woman be born again( born from above) he cannot see the kingdom of God." According to John 3:6 Jesus made it clear that this new birth is when a person "is born of the Spirit.(Holy Spirit) What does this mean? It means that God will move within the believer on a permanent basis by his Spirit. This happens the moment a person receives "everlasting life" upon believing John 3:16. Since the Holy Spirit of God is a person, we cannot receive him in part John 3:34 When we are saved we are indwelt or sealed by the Holy Spirit who will provide us with the power we need in our lives. We read in 1 John 4:4- "you are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world." AMPLIFIED Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4 As we grow in Christ, the Holy Spirit will direct us in the path of God if we are willing. We are exhorted: (a) Do not quench (suppress or subdue) the [Holy] Spirit;" 1 Thess. 5:19 (b) "Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." Eph. 4:30 Would I be right in suggesting that the scripture teaches us that in order to be filled with the Spirit and to know his power in his life, that such power will be directly related to our willingness to allow him to work? In other words as Christians sealed by the Holy Spirit at our spiritual birth in Christ, we can "quench" the Holy Spirit by resisting or suppressing his power in my life and we can "grieve" the Holy Spirit by wilful disobedience against him. He is the potter, we are the clay. |
Bible Answer: I believe that regeneration as mentioned with the Nicodemus experience with Jesus (John 3:1-21)is indeed a process. In brief, I believe when I man makes a confession of Faith (Confesses with mouth/Believes in heart) that immediately his spirit is regenerated (born again) Adamic nature begins to die and the Spirit man begins to come alive, though according to 1 Thess 5:23 there are 3 seperate entities within your nature (Spirit, Soul, and Body) If spirit is immediately regenerated then what occurs with the remaining. I believe according to scripture that the soulish nature (or mind) must be transformed. That is where the "Continual" Baptismal of the Holy Spirit comes into effect (Acts 1:8) Empowering to fulfill purposes. If according to scripture we are commanded to renew our minds, I believe that inevtiably there is an end to "transform"... if this word is used in proper context, there must be an end result which is transformation. Which I believe is all founded upon the principles of intimate fellowship with Jesus (John chapter 15-17) Which we ultimately join in union with Christ and join in scripture 1 Cor. 2:16 "...but we have the MInd of Christ" Finally there is the last entity, which is the "Body". I personally believe that there is regeneration power available through the Blood of Christ to complete this work on earth. I call this entering in the Baptism of Resurrection and becoming those unveiled Sons of God. This is all made available through Christ's DEATH/RESURRECTION which is HIs reconciling work.(Romans 5, 1 Cor 15:20-28 Colossians 1:15-25, and which we are ministers of Reconciliation to reconcile all men back to God 2 Cor.5:11-21) Other ref.. Philippians 3:1-21 (join with sufferings, die, and join in resurrection.. transform our lowly bodies) Romans 5-8, Eph. 1-3, I implore that you join in agreement with Pauls prayer in Ephesians 1(that you would receive the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation and that your eyes would be flooded with Light that you might know your inheritance in Christ)Also, read 1 Cor 14:8-12 not with an eschatology mentality, because I do not believe there is any evidence to suggest such, but understand when we truly behold His face in our prayer closet that our Adamic nature will break off and truly we will fulfill 2 Cor 3 and all the way back to Gen. where we were transfomred into His image. If you attempt to process with reason and logic originated from men's traditional views then you will not grasp this, but if you go boldy before the throne of Grace with an unveiled heart, like me you to will be transformed and begin to truly see the mysteries of heaven release in the earth.. last thing.. ask the Lord what He truly meant by "the Lord's prayer" Kindgom Come / your will be done in earth as it is in Heaven... |
