Bible Question:
hello, dear brothers and sisters!I have a very important question: Do God love everyone or not? Many people say He loves everyone, basing on John 3:16. Other people think that "the world" means "mankind" and not every person. Please answer me how do YOU think? P.S.Though I live in Russia and know that Christians everywhere have the same questions regardless of the place they live. Thank you.God bless you. |
Bible Answer: Hello yura, Welcome to the Forum and God Bless you! I believe a straight-forward, literal reading of John 3:16 is sufficient. The passage says what it means, and means exactly what it says! I would caution against those who "say" it means something else. The general meaning of the word, kosmos (Gr.) is order or world. Mankind would also imply the world. A.T. Robertson, a noted 20th Century Greek scholar made this comment: "The world [ton kosmon]. The whole cosmos of men, including Gentiles, the whole human race. This universal aspect of God’s love appears also in II Cor. 5:19; Rom. 5:8." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
