Bible Question:
Why then does it say the following? Luke 10:21-22 21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. 22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to WHOM the Son will reveal him. 34 For DAVID IS NOT ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, CONCERNING THEM WHICH ARE ASLEEP, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so THEM ALSO WHICH SLEEP in Jesus WILL God BRING with him. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 2 Peter 3:12-13 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 51 BEHOLD I SHOW YOU A MYSTERY; WE SHALL NOT ALL SLEEP, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, THITHER WILL the eagles be gathered together. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord JESUS SHALL BE REVEALED FROM HEAVEN with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire TAKING VENGEANCE ON THEM THAT KNOW NOT GOD, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. |
Bible Answer: If you will read the references you will see they are telling you exactly what I am. Your Luke passage is not a description of death or of resurrection but rather proof positive that David was not writing about himself but rather Jesus who would sit at God's right hand. Secondly David's spirit at this time had not gone to heaven it was still captive in Abraham's bosom awaiting the promised Messiah to lead it home. The 1 Peter is simply saying both heaven and earth will be renewed. The Thessalonian passage once again is talking of death of the body not "soul sleep". Our Spirits are eternal however our bodies are not. In the Old Testament when a person died they went to Hades (holding place for the dead) one side was a hot dry place the other Abraham's bosom. We see a picture of this in Luke 16:19-31 you can't refute that. Upon Jesus' death He went to Hades (Abraham's bosom) and preached the Good News. If everyone was sleeping then who did he preach too? 1 Peter 3:18-19 (NKJV) 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 19 by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, Then Jesus lead all those in Abraham's bosom home to heaven with Him. Ephesians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men." Now when someone dies and trust in Jesus for their salvation they go directly to heaven as Paul told us. 2 Corinthians 5:8 (NKJV) 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Now let me ask a question. You first asked a question where is my uncle in the grave or in hell? I answered your question but you rebut me with Jehovah witness propaganda. My question to you is did you ask an honest question or are you seeking a platform to spread Jehovah Witness false teachings? EdB |
