NASB | John 21:11 Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 21:11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three [of them]; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. |
Bible Question: Is there a significance to the number of fish (153) caught by the disciples? I have heard that it refers to the number of known ethnic groups in existence at that time. I have also read that the Greek zoologists had catalogued that many different species of fish. I am interested in any other meanings of the number of fish caught. |
Bible Answer: Wanda June, greetings. More than likely the significance lies in John's ability to count fish! This item has been brought up several times on the forum. You may want to try Search to read more. --Hank |
