Bible Note: Hi Huron, I haven't studied a harmony of the gospels to know the order of the events; sorry I can't help there. What I have discovered in my personal study is that even though the gospels relate things in different words and in varying orders, yet we can learn from them all about this Christ. We can compare the gospels and see that they are saying the same things about Him. For instance, Mark 1:32 says, "And when evening had come, after the sun had set, they began bringing to (Him) all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed." Matthew 4:24 says, "And the news about Him went out into all Syria; and they brought to (Him) all who were ill, taken with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them." The parentheses are mine for comparison/contrast. What I am saying is that although accounts may differ, it is important to know that this is God's word and the important thing is to know God, rather than so much the facts and people involved. Here is a comparison of the gospels concerning who Jesus is according to unclean spirits and also Peter and the disciples. Mark 1:23, "And just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, saying, "What do we have to do with You, Jesus/ of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are--the (Holy) One of God!" John 6:68, "Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord/ to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. And we have come to know that You are the (Holy) One of God." These words are words of eternal life and not for spiritual destruction. Jesus wants to show Himself to the world. He wants people to come to (Him) for healing. The words that He spoke are spirit and life. The order that I see is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. From the heart, Ray |
