AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 19:31 ¶ Since it was the day of Preparation [for the Sabbath], in order to prevent the bodies from hanging on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high holy day) the Jews asked Pilate to have their legs broken [to hasten death] and the bodies taken away. |
Subject: EdB, Did He die on Thursday? |
Bible Note: Ok EdB, I have several Jewish friends, and I will take you up on this! I will approach a good friend of mine and one who is considerably older than I am, a Messianic Jew. I will ask him if he will answer a question for me and I will see what he says. I am not guaranteed a response, since he only takes a few questions at a time and considers carefully just who asks him and which questions that he answers. I will ask him this question, when he is feeling 'up to it', and I will post his response here if he gives an answer concerning what day the crucifixion of Jesus actually happened on. I'm not sure how much time will take for him to give me an answer. But I do know that his answer, if he states which day, will be full of experience and wisdom, no doubt! He is very knowledgable in all the Jewish customs, ways of life, etc.. And I learned most of what I know about the Jewish way of life from him. Stay tuned.. :) |
