NASB | John 19:31 ¶ Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 19:31 ¶ Since it was the day of Preparation [for the Sabbath], in order to prevent the bodies from hanging on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high holy day) the Jews asked Pilate to have their legs broken [to hasten death] and the bodies taken away. |
Bible Question: Was Jesus actually in the tomb for three days or was it three days from the time of his crucifixion until he arose? |
Bible Answer: mark 8:31 and mark 9:31, mathew 27:63 "AFTER 3 DAYs" Would this not end the partial days argument? and he had to be in the ground before the [high]saboth[1st day of unleavened bread].then friday, mary prepares the spices before the [weekly]saboth [mark 16:1].sunday she shows up and Jesus is already risen.. mathew 12:8 and luke 6:5 he "is LORD of the saboth" makes me think he rose on his day.. and since i can not find my glasses i will continuie later... but while here , does anyone know where i can find a hebrew calander for 29ad thru 33ad ? this is what i was/am looking for. God bless all , who seek and have faith ,love the Lord and love thier neighbors as/more then themselves |
