Bible Question: Why did Jesus need to depart before the Spirit could come? |
Bible Answer: Hi, MJH... The work of the Son accomplished on the cross is an essential component of God's eternal purpose. Double imputation -- as a completed work -- paves the way for establishment of the church -- the Body of Christ. I've often thought how odd it is when people say, "Oh, if only I could have sat at Jesus' feet! The disciples didn't know how good they had it!" Such an attitude reveals a substantial misunderstanding of what was accomplished on the cross. A believer today -- through the second Comforter -- enjoys an intimacy with Christ that the disciples never experienced while our Lord walked upon the earth. The blessings of the ordo salutis, as revealed in Scripture, are necessarily and logically connected. These doctrines are foundational. In Him, Doc |
