Bible Note: Hi Tim, Thanks for posting to me. I hope you know that I will argue for the same things that you do, the truths of God's word. I have so many things on my mind that I would want to talk to you about while I have your interest, but don't hardly know where to start. 1) I took note today that John 14:21 which talks about "disclose" is actually talking about "reveal" or as the NKJ says make "manifest". John 14:21, "He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me; and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him. 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose * *Yourself to us, and not to the world?" 2) John 16:14 which talks about "disclose" in the NASB is actually another word which is Strong's #312, "to bring back word, announce". John 16:14, "He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose [it] to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said, that He takes of **Mine, and will disclose [it] to you." Your NIV talks of making it known to you. So the idea is of announcing it. And we would say, announcing the truth. 3) John 16:14, "He shall glorify Me; for He/ shall take of *Mine, and shall disclose [it] to you." John 14:21b, "...and he who love Me shall be loved by My Father/, and *I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him." I would say that we have the Truth revealed and the truth announced in these passages. What are your thoughts on these things? Contrast John 14:8, "Philip said to Him, "Lord,/ show us the *Father, and it is enough for us." From the heart, Ray |
