Subject: Gods will for your life |
Bible Note: Greetings again! Just curious about this, and I forewarn you, it's a bit sensitive . . . As a writer, I most often present what God has taught me through His Word and through my experiences with Him. However, there are times when I may share with my audience what He has taught others. From grade school we are taught the importance of truth in reporting and are required to cite our sources. There has been a lot of national and international attention to this issue in recent months - from the classroom to respected scientfic journals, documentation is as important as the material that one is presenting. For me, it is important to me to present how God has worked in MY life - this is MY testimony and although I believe it should be shared, I also believe it should be guarded as well. It is more important (to me) to know how God is working in YOUR life, than to hear about how He has worked in someone elses! (To Me)The actual experience has more authority than one reported vicariously. Now Tim, as a Pastor, in the preparation of a message, is it not also important to share what God has placed upon YOUR heart? And if it happens to be something that He has already placed upon the heart of John MacArthur, or anyone else, should you, as a Pastor refer to your source? (God, by way of John Doe) I guess it was a little disquieting to me to find the exact sermon notes, even in the same order on this web site. I understand that there is nothing really new under the sun, but it seems (to me, anyway) that this practice of "lifting sermons" from another's preaching is a bit troubling. In the world of journalism, this is called plagarism. However, if this is a common and accepted practice among you, as men called of God to Shepherding the flock, then so be it! By the way, my Pastor's delivery of this important Truth from God's Word was stellar and obviously, God spoke to my heart, but the question still remains . . .Hoping for a reply! Blessings, Mommapbs |
