Bible Question:
When Christ is revealed to us, are not the doctrines also revealed to us from Christ. I know men make doctrines and I think that could be a big part of the problem, where do the doctrines come from? Christ said in John 7:16 that the doctrines he taught were not His own but were DELIVERED to Him by the Father. So also Christ DELIVERED the same doctrines to us, they more then likely came through a human instrument, but they are not the human instruments doctrines, they were given to him by Christ who received them from the Father. John 7:16-17 16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. 17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. KJV Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. KJV Which goes back to the question does God give different doctrines to different groups? I am questioning how can there be so many different doctrines and still all be from the mind of one God. Eph 4:3-6 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Bible Answer: Dear Arnie, The reason for so many conflicting doctrines is the remnant of sin that still resides in the flesh of believers. If you put ten christians in a room together and had them interpret the same passage of scripture, you would get 10 different interpretations. If the passage was one that relates to the diety of Jesus, they would all agree that Jesus is God come in the flesh. But even their agreements would not all be identical. Now let's give them a more difficult passage, He:6:4-6 for example. I'm sure you would not only get different interpretations but real disagreements. The doctrines found in the Bible all come from God and are true. Why He permits divisions among brothers I do not know. But because He is God and I am not, my duy is to study and pray that the Spirit will reveal His truth to me. I've had doctrines that I have believed and defended proved to be wrong! It does tend to work humility in us. I see our growth in wisdom and knowledge to be a process that lasts until we are taken home to Him. God Bless Arnie, John |
