Bible Question: Can a Pastor makes friend with sheeps? One of my girl friend said "A pastor can never be a friend with his sheep" She refer to those pastor special trained in Counseling. Counselling professions are not advised to have any personal relationship with his/her cilent. It sound quite reasonable. |
Bible Answer: My thought on this is that your friend does not fully understand the role of a church leader. Yes, different religions say different things about the roles of leaders, but to say that they should not interact with their followers is perplexing to me. I feel that they should be setting the example to the parisheners. They should be loving, caring, honest, and also be an example of Christ-like love. This means they have to get involved. As for the counseling type, there is a fine line here that I don't think should even be touched. It can become very complicated to have your pastor knowing the intimate details of your life. If it were me, I would seek outside help and keep the pastor out of it (unless it was something dealing with breaking church rules). I hope this has helped. :) |
