Bible Question:
Excellent advice! If I may follow-up ..... Your answer hinges on Christ not only being the incarnation of God, a radical idea to be sure, but also that Jesus is ONLY incarnation of God, an offensive idea for many because it denies the legitimacy of other religions. This of course is the essence of our faith, but for unbelievers, it is perhaps the most difficult truth to accept. As I work in a highly secular environment, a university, I'm looking for credible ways to share the truth of Christ without depending on Scripture as ultimate authority, at least at first, and without assuming the person accepts that Jesus is God and that He is the ONLY incarnation of God. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Parable! I appreciate what you are trying to do but I don't believe it is possible or desirable. Why? Everything about the Gospel is offensive to people who refuse to listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying. Yes, we can look for ways to open a discussion, but like Paul at Mars Hill, we will find that many will not listen. But, should we then tailor the Gospel to suit them? One thing I have learned over the years is that God is the one Who convicts. If we simply share the Gospel faithfully and leave the results to Him, He will draw the lost to Him. So, my advice would be to simply share what the Gospel says. Jesus is God incarnate. Jesus is the only way to salvation. We simply don't find a single example in Scripture of anyone sharing the Gospel apart from the fundamental truths of the Gospel or apart from Scripture. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
