AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 14:28 "You heard Me tell you, 'I am going away, and I am coming back to you.' If you [really] loved Me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going [back] to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. |
Subject: Father greater than Jesus |
Bible Note: At 10:33, the interlinear reading of The Emphatic Diaglott says “a god” rather than "God." Support for the rendering “a god” is found principally in Jesus’ own answer, in which he quoted from Psalm 82:1-7. As can be seen, this text did not refer to persons as being called “God,” but “gods” and “sons of the Most High.” This argument would carry little weight if Jesus had to defend against calling himself God. John 5:18 says they claimed Jesus was "making himself equal to God," still never saying that he claimed to be God. The conclusions must be drawn, not from what the sons of the Devil say, but what the Son of God says. I will research your previous posts on the Holy Spirit for future interactions. Thanks. |
