AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 1:18 No one has seen God [His essence, His divine nature] at any time; the [One and] only begotten God [that is, the unique Son] who is in the intimate presence of the Father, He has explained Him [and interpreted and revealed the awesome wonder of the Father]. [Prov 8:30] |
Subject: The Only Begotten God |
Bible Note: Greetings Forum Friends! We often get discussions about both the Deity of Christ and the accuracy of the doctrine of the Trinity. This verse speaks to both. I was preparing my Sunday School lesson for next week, when I really focused on this verse. Like most people, I tend to focus more on the first couple of verses of John 1. However, note what this verse says about Christ and the Trinity. 1) Of Christ, it says He is the only begotten God. This is as clear a statement as one will find that Jesus is God. 2) Of the Trinity, it says that the only begotten God is in the bossom of the Father. Here is as clear a statement as one will find about the distinct persons within the Godhead. I just thought I would highlight this verse as we prepare to celebrate the death, burial, and resurrection of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
