Bible Question:
Jesus being "a god" in John 1:18, differs from translation to translation. Why? From what Greek manuscripts are the most popular Bible translations from? Truthfinder |
Bible Answer: Why Jesus being God differs from translation to translation? Because the scripture never "directly" said that Jesus is God. That is why. Even Jesus Himself never said He is God. When I was still "searching", I have the same question. Is Jesus really God. And I found these: 1. God is spirit. Angels and demons are spirit. These latter two ( Good and Evil ) recognized Jesus during their encounters in the scripture. So they must have known Jesus long before He became man. ( Matt 8: 29 )( Luke 1:32 ) 2. People who have lived during Jesus time, recognized Him as Son of God. Mary Lazarus' sister ( A friend ) declared that in John 11: 27 and the Centurion ( An enemy )who guarded Jesus during Crucifixion declared the same in Mark 15:39. 3. And lastly God the Father declared Jesus as His Son in Matthew 17:5. But is Jesus really God? Based on above, by deductive analysis "Yes". But how come He did not "directly " declare Himself as God? Actually He did. It is just that some are still blinded by unbelief. If one confesses his faith in Him, acknowledge Him (Jesus) as the One and True God, then soon one will see, feel and experience His declaration of His Deity. Remember what God the Father said in John 3:16? "... whoever BELIEVES in Him...." are the only ones who receive eternal life. It is never said, "whoever can prove or authenticate"?
