NASB | John 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 1:13 who were born, not of blood [natural conception], nor of the will of the flesh [physical impulse], nor of the will of man [that of a natural father], but of God [that is, a divine and supernatural birth--they are born of God--spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified]. |
Bible Question:
John 1:13 born Being born of God not of natural descent which means physical need nor of human decision means by husband and wife to want a child or of husband will, means husband wanting a child Born to God means born to God is a gift from God not man's But God. Do I have the meaning of Verse John 1:13 right?not by blood or flesh or will of man But God. Thank you so much I understand the verse in my head but just trying to understand the meaning. |
Bible Answer: Dear Sweet, There are those who would disagree with my understanding, but no one can only offer you anything but their opinions. We all must rely on the Spirit through the Word alone to apply the truth to our hearts. That being said, this is what I believe. 1. "who were born, not of blood". Not as a result of parentage or tribe or nation. "for it is by grace you have been saved..." (Eph 2:8) 2. "nor of the will of the flesh". Not as a result of a carnal desire". "for it is by grace you have been saved..." (Eph 2:8) 3. "nor of the will of man,". Not by the will of man". Some say that means because your natural father wills it, but I don't see any reason for that interpretation. It seems forced to me. I believe it means: it does not depend on the will of man which is exactly what the Bible says. "for it is by grace you have been saved..." (Eph 2:8) 4. "but of God". Not by the will of man but by the will of God! "for it is by grace you have been saved..." (Eph 2:8) Praise the Lord! For He SHALL save HIS people from their sins! John Reformed |
