Bible Question: a young unmarried couple were renting a house from the church. the young man attended this church regularly. he was also encouraging his girlfriend to come with him. The church had a vote and decided that they had to move. the preacher came alone and told them to get married or move. The church did not pray for this couple and noone from the church came to invite the young lady to church. In fact, this was the only time the pastor had been to their home. He told them that their sin was the number one sin greater even than murder. The preacher did ask the young man to come back to church but he no longer feels welcome and my question is this if he is not welcome in one house, why is he welcome in another. Both houses are Gods |
Bible Answer: Hi, nomad1! Sadly today's world seeks to conform Christ and the Holy Scripture to its values... many genuine seekers get lost in the shuffle... they take a little bit of Scripture, a little bit of he/she says, and much of society's philosophical rendering of "what God REALY meant..." they mix it all up and they redefine Scripture and the Commandments... Your question seems genuine: "if he is not welcome in one house, why is he welcome in another." The church (all of its members) cannot knowingly facilitate the use of church property for the purpose of trespassing God's Commandments... if the unwed couple (specifically the gentleman--he was the one attending Christian services) did not desire to make their union a Christian union, why would they expect that the church would be obligated to assist them in their fornication (marriage outside of matrimony)? Why would the male seek to live a double life: a) Christian while in the church; b) agnostic while in his bedroom? There is no conflict of interests here... the man and the woman are both welcomed at the place of worship... it is their choice to accept Jesus at His terms or to refuse Him; conversely, it is the church's responsibility not to aide anyone who chooses to embrace an unrighteous lifestyle! Further, though both houses are God's, one building can serve to teach, enlighten, and save the couple; while the other, if being misused, could not only serve to facilitate their damnation but that of others--those who no doubt would be misguided into thinking that if the chuch facilitates one form of transgression it could well be that all transgressions would be deemed as permissible; hence, rendering Christ and His Commandments null and void!
