Bible Note: Greetings Dalcent! You would certainly have a valid point, if 'dikaioutai' in James 2:24 could ONLY mean 'he was made righteous'. However, 'dikaioutai' can also mean that 'he was shown to be righteous'. This meaning would certainly make more sense in light of the context of James 2. James is not speaking of 'how' to get saved, but the evidence of salvation. This word is used in this manner of God in Rom. 3:4: "Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: 'So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.'" 'Dikaio' is translated here as 'proved right'.
