Bible Question: Did any prophet come from Galilee? |
Bible Answer: Hi prayon, I want to offer a comparison verse and my personal rendering of the passages for what it is worth. I was gratified to see that Hank capitalized Prophet and my version will do that plus some other pronouns as well. Luke 24:18, "And one of them, namely Cleopas, answered and said to Him, "Are You the only (One) visiting Jerusalem and unaware[Or, possibly we could say, 'only visiting Jerusalem and are (You) unaware", or even "Are You only a (Visitor) and unaware] of the things which have happened here in these days?" And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a *Prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of **God and all the people." John 7:46, "Never did a Man speak the way this Man speaks." The Pharisees therefore answered them, "You have not also been led astray, have you? No one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in (Him), has he? But this multidude, which does not know the law, is accursed." "Nicoodemus said them, (he who came to Him before, being one of them), "Our Law does not judge a Man, unless it first hears from Him and knows what *He is doing, does it?" They answered and said to him, "You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no **Prophet arises out of Galilee." And everyone went to his own home. But Jesus/ went to the Mount of Olives." John 2:25, "and because He did not need anyone to bear witness concerning man for He knew what was in man. Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nichodemus, a ruler of the Jews; this man came to Him by night, and said to (Him), "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a *Teacher; for no **One can do these signs that You/ do unless God is with Him." I would encourage anyone to go to their individual home and consider if this Jesus is the One who is able to do these signs [above all that we could possibly think], and whether He is the Man who came as a Teacher, even the Prophet. Even One who is more than a Prophet. From the heart, Ray |
