Subject: Baptism? |
Bible Note: Hank (:-) I wonder sometimes is some ask the question about baptism being required for salvation, because they might be looking for a way out of being baptized. I personally question if a person says they are a believer, and have had enough time to have been baptized, and failed to follow the Lord in being baptized. Is it not a serious mistake for a new believer to see baptism as not required for outward proof that salvation has taken place? I in no way mean salvation by faith in Christ Jesus is incomplete. However, if there is no real desire to be baptized I wonder if the person has a flawed faith. I once shared Christ with a older woman who was dying of cancer. She prayed to make Jesus her Lord. She wanted to be baptized so badly she was willing to crawl into a baptistry or what ever it took to follow the example of her Lord. She was unable to even move from her bed due to the Iv's and other medical stuff. She begged and did not want to meet Jesus without being baptized. As a symbol of baptism I sprinkled her, and she passed on a very short time after being sprinkled. She was at peace, and I never thought I would ever sprinkle anyone for a substitute for being baptized. The point is this lady was willing to crawl if she could into a baptistry, and others won't even feel the slightest guilt. Well that's my two cents worth. justme |
