Subject: WAS THIVES TIED OR NAILED TO CROSS |
Bible Note: Hi Edd, The electric chair was extremely fast compared to crucifixion. The closest thing that we have had in this country, that might come close yet not quite, would be the way the Apache Indians would tear the skin off of their captives and see who could keep them alive the longest to endure the most pain. There are records of people living for days on a cross in pain. Electrocution causes a lot of movement due to impulses but there isn’t really that much pain because the nerve cells in the brain are dead. It’s hard for us to imagine how intense the pain was for Christ, being separated from God; it was evidently worse then anything physical that he suffered up to that time because he didn’t scream out until God forsook him at the ninth hour, when he was made sin for us. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. People won’t experience this kind of pain unless they die without trusting in what Jesus did for them on the cross. If one dies in this condition, outside of Christ, they will experience that kind of pain for an eternity! Horrid thought isn’t it? CDBJ |
