Bible Note: Greetings Meusing! I realize you are quoting a quote, but just for record, I wanted to note that there isn't any textual problem with Luke 22:36. So, Bishop Pearce's supposition was based on his view of weapons, not on the text itself. I checked my critical apparatus and there aren't any variant readings for this verse. I agree with you overall point though my friend. Surely Jesus never intended the disciples to go out and fight.
