Subject: Is baptism a sign of the New Covenant? |
Bible Note: One difference between the signs of the Old Covenant and the New is that the OT signs for the most part were bloody rituals (circumcision and animal sacrifice), while the Eucharist and baptism are not. Secondly, the signs were changed by Jesus at the Last Supper. The lamb is the focus of the Passover meal (and clearly points to the Lamb of God); yet Jesus picked up the bread and the cup as the elements of the meal pointing to Himself from that point forward. I find this fascinating and would love to delve into the significance of that at some point. Of course, cirumcision was for males only. What differences did you have in mind? --Joe! |
