NASB | Luke 18:19 And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 18:19 Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is [essentially and morally] good except God alone. |
Bible Question: Why is it that Jesus did not want to be called good? Is He here distinguishing Himself from God? |
Bible Answer: Our righteousness is as filthy rags.Jesus was still capable of not wanting the Will of His Father at this point. He learnt obedience By His suffering. He was here to do the Fathers will and Knew what Pride was and what humble Submission was. It was not until He was ressurected when perfection was Put on.He became sin for us.and i feel that Jesus knew what was to become of Himself for the Glory of God and our justification .YIC |
