AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, "If you have [confident, abiding] faith in God [even as small] as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree [which has very strong roots], 'Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea'; and [if the request was in agreement with the will of God] it would have obeyed you. Bible Question: This is such a powerful statement Made by our lord Jesus,, I believe this, but isn't faith also a gift from our Father ? |
Bible Answer: First, Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Faith is the gift of God, that is, all three persons of the Trinity have a part in our salvation and the dispensation of faith. For example, Christ Jesus: Heb 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith. And the Father: John 6:44 "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day." It is the Father who draws us to faith in Christ. And finally the Holy Spirit: John 3:5-6 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." Titus 3:5-7 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. It is to the Holy Spirit that the Bible most ascribes the work of causing us to have faith in Chirst. God saved us, Paul says, by the regenerating (born again) and renewing (repentence and faith) work of the Holy Spirit. The Father chooses those he wants to save (Eph 1:4); Jesus dies for their salvation (Matt 1:21); and the Holy Spirit causes them to believe and call on Christ for salvation. |
