Bible Question: I just want to make sure that I'm getting the right understanding. So if a person ask for forgiveness with their mouth but it's not in their heart are they forgiven by God? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Gen 20:6; Deu 4:29, 6:5, 30:2ff; 1 Sam 16:7; Luk 16:15, 18:9-14; Jhn 5:41-45; Rom 10:9 ... ydolomite, greetings ... Since God knows our hearts, just saying the words is not enough. There are more verses on this ... study what Jesus and John said to the Jew(ish leaders) ... they said stuff that sounded right. Thsi thought just in - the Publican and Sinner (Luke 18:9-14) is an example of words without heart backing. Again, since we don't know the heart, we need to forgive each time ... there may consequences. Hope this helps, Searcher |
