AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 16:9 "And I tell you [learn from this], make friends for yourselves [for eternity] by means of the wealth of unrighteousness [that is, use material resources as a way to further the work of God], so that when it runs out, they will welcome you into the eternal dwellings. |
Bible Question: What do you think of the "Left Behind Series"? Is it just a novelty or is the Spirit being able to use it to save more? Wrong idea 'cause I KNOW the Spirit can use anything, even the devil's work, but have you seen evidence of it? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Christian Marine! Are you a United States Marine? I have tried to read the "Left Behind" Series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins but I wasn't really able to get into it.. I'm more interested in Frank Peretti's novels. :-) But even though these are works of fiction, I believe that the Spirit can use these books to spread the Gospel. Never before have I seen what could be called "Christian fiction" dominate both the Christian and worldwide Bestseller lists at the same time! And I believe that that is a good thing, since there is a subtle but Christian message behind the story in those books. The Lord Jesus wants us to make use of everything that is given to us (Luke 16:9) so that we may be alert in spreading His message by all means possible, even by 'shrewd' means. And there are quite a few of those books now! So, in retrospect, I would conclude that it is a great idea to author novels of fiction that are written for the purpose of containing a subtle Christian message behind them. And in this way, we are making use of some of the things of this world to spread His message. Blessings to you, Nolan |
