Bible Question:
Greetings C Marengo! I agree my friend that Satan is a defeated enemy. However, he has not been completely destroyed. If he had been, why would James say to resist the devil? Why would Paul speak of the flaming arrows of the devil in Eph. 6? A wounded animal is more dangerous! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
Bible Answer: tim, it seems that I have touched on a subject that means much. A study of what happened on the cross and during the days of Jesus' burial and subsequent resurrection will edify. Jesus undid what Adam did...we have a position in Christ that we must come in contact with...you see the instruction from the word is to put us not on the defensive when it comes to Satan but on the offense. Notice in the armor of God there is nothing on the rear side...because we are to be moving forward. Also, we gear up not in a battle position of wondering the outcome but of expected and even, if I may offer the idea...previctory. Just as in the Old Testament when God led the children of Israel in battle He would assure them of victory...oft times they did nothing, other times they simply fought, other times they just walked and yelled, other times they just praised God...bottom line they were assured of victory. If the old covenant gave such glory how much more the new covenant...what I believe is not a simplification but rather an acceptance of my position in Christ...I am seated with Him in heavenly places..I am an overcomer in Him..in Him I am blessed with all spiritual blessisngs..in Him I live and move..you see it's all about Him. When we as His sons and daughters begin to walk and live the victory He obtained on the cross, then we can see His glory begin to fill the earth. He is waiting on us.. but we tend to spend most of our time focused on "the great escape". He is looking for a glorious church not one living below its station on this earth. He expects us to be the ones to take dominion. Your brother, c marengo |
